Courtois Delighted To Make Real Debut

New Real Madrid  goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois admits he was thrilled to make his La Liga debut for the club on Saturday. Courtois was selected to play in goal by coach Julen Lopetegui for their home clash with Leganes, which they won very comfortably 4-1.

Gareth Bale got the goalscoring underway, with Karim Benzema bagging a brace while Gareth Bale and Sergio Ramos also found the back of the net.
Courtois couldn’t keep a clean sheet as Guido Carrillo netted a penalty but the Belgian was looking forward to his debut and it didn’t disappoint.

“I’ve waited for this for a long time; to play in the best club in the world,” he told RMTV.
“When I was a child my idol was Iker, and when I was at Atleti playing in the Bernabéu was special because of the atmosphere, the warmth of the fans… But wearing the Madrid shirt was incredible.”

He added: “The first thing is settling into a new team. Training has gone well, but matches are a different story. When you come in late it can be difficult to get going, but I feel good.”
