Brazil forward Philippe Coutinho has asked to leave Liverpool to join Barcelona, according to ESPN Brasil.
Barcelona have stepped up efforts to sign the 25-year-old since the exit of Neymar, who left Camp Nou for Paris Saint-Germain last week for a world record €222m ttansfer fee.
Liverpool have insisted that Coutinho is not for sale, but their resolve may now be broken with Barca, flush with the Neymar cash, insistent on a deal.
It was reported earlier on Tuesday that Barcelona representatives were in England for Coutinho talks with Liverpool, although neither club confirmed the report.
ESPN Brasil claimed on Tuesday afternoon that sources close to Coutinho told them the player had made up his mind to leave Liverpool and he had informed the club of his desire to join Barcelona.
A deal for Coutinho could cost up to €100m as the Reds, who value their star player highly, have already rejected a £75m offer for him.
Another South American star, Uruguay striker Luis Suarez, joined Barcelona from Liverpool in 2014.
