CR7 Breaks Another Real Record

CR7 Breaks Another Real Record

Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo has marked yet another milestone in his fabulous career. Having matched the club record of goals away from home that was set by Raúl, ahead of the encounter, hitting the back of the net twice at the Coliseum against Getafe on Sunday, he is now on his own as the highest scorer Real Madrid history away from home, with a tally of 89 goals.

He’s also matched another phenomenal achievement set by Lionel Messi during the 2012-13 season, scoring 28 goals in the first half of a La Liga campaign, but what’s more, he’s done that with a game to spare. It must be recalled that Real Madrid have yet to play their 19th game, the rescheduled encounter with Sevilla, so he could notch up another record if he scores in that game.

It seems Getafe are one of the favourite opponents for Cristiano to face too, given his two goals took him to a total of fifteen goals against them. A figure only exceeded by 16 goals he’s scored against Sevilla, during his time with Real Madrid.

Whilst he might have parted company with Irina Skayk this week, personal matters off the pitch certainly haven’t shaken his ability to score goals.

Ronaldo has also now out-scored Carlos Alonso Santillana and stands as Real Madrid’s third all-time goalscorer in all competitions.

With that brace against Getafe, the Portuguese has piggybacked over Santillana’s mark of 288 goals, making his tally 289.

The breakdown is as follows: 206 goals in the league, 21 in the Copa del Rey, 57 in the Champions League, two in the European Supercup and three in the Spanish Supercup.
