Croatia Coach Dismisses Defeat To Peru, Claims It’s Better To Lose Now Than At World Cup

By James Agberebi:                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          Croatia head coach Zlatko Dalic has played down his team’s 2-0 Friendly match loss to 10-man Peru in USA in the early hours of Saturday.

A goal in each half from Andre  Carrillo and Edison Flores in the 12th and 49, sealed the win for Peru who were soon reduced to 10 men following the sending off of Yoshimar Yotun after receiving his second yellow card.

Speaking after the game, Dalic however admitted his team was outplayed by the Peruvians.

“Lessons are to be learned,” Dalic was quoted on Croatia’s verified Twitter handle.

“It is better to lose now than at the World Cup, and I have said to my players that we cannot defeat anyone unless we are fully concentrated.

“There are no excuses, this was not a good performance. Congratulations to Peru for a deserved victory.”

Croatia will open their 2018 FIFA World Cup campaign against Nigeria on June 16.

I watched the match on bein sports. It was tasteless and unbelievably boring. It was 90+ yawn minutes of pain.

@Abdurazaq, from your comment, it appears a well organised super eagles will defeat Croatia. I pray our SE keeps improving and no injuries. With tactical discipline, and optimum concentration, we will surely excel at Russia. We are more like a team than individual.

I just watched the highlight Peru 2 vs Croatia 0 and Mexico 3 vs Iceland 0. I can boldly say we have a team we can be proud of. The way we played yesterday wasn’t the best but compared to Croatia and Iceland, both teams doesn’t have what it takes to beat us. However, Argentina really played well against Italy. Argentina 2 vs Italy 0. Based on what I saw in yesterday matches, at the world cup,

    Nigeria
    Argentina
    Croatia
    Iceland

We are going to top the group in sha Allah and win the championship.

Coach Rohr will soon getting everything right and ready before the world cup.

Watch out for 9ja team. God bless Nigeria!!!

    • Don’t play down those South Americans. They are good side as well. We never won any game against South American team as well except the last friendly against Argentina. They always beat us with wide margin even when we had great teams. Check Yugoslavia and Paraguay in 1998. It is only Argentina we try against small, still they still defeated us 4 times in the past. It is

      • Man stop talking when you are not sure of your facts. Old Yugoslavia is not a South American country. They are combination of Russia,Croatia,Serbia etc Which are all European countries today

      • But we beat both Argentina and Brazil at d Olimpic

It will be a big mistake under-rating Iceland and Croatia. Yes they lost their individual friendlies but, look out they are coming to WC with very improved teams. Remember, we have our weakness in attack and goalkeeping. A good coach will explore those weak points. With hard work only, I see a first round standing that has Argentina, Nigeria, Croatia Iceland. Let us pray.

@Chamberlain, you are spot on. Yesterday we played at 40% installed capacity and still won.

The Croatia team that i watched against Peru, yesterday, we can beat. I won’t even say anything about Iceland. They were more intent watching the Mexicans pass the ball amongst themselves. They rarely threatened even though El tri fielded a weakened team, with most of their regulars watching from the bench.
