Croatia defender Domagoj Vida has signed a four-and-a-half year deal with Turkish champions Besiktas from Ukrainian club Dynamo Kyiv.
He becomes the second Croatian international to move in the January transfer window after Juventus winger Marko Pjaca joined German Bundesliga outfit Schalke 04 on a six-month loan deal.
Vida’s deal at Dynamo Kyiv was poised to lapse this Sunday and he was linked with a move to English Premier League side Everton but opted to join Besiktas who are through to the second round of the UEFA Champions League.
Vida who was part of Croatia’s squad that qualified for the 2018 World Cup in Russia has earned 51 caps for his country.
Vida is expected to be named in Croatia’s squad to face Nigeria on June 16 at the Kaliningrad Stadium, Kaliningrad in their opening fixture in Group D at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, having been drawn along with the three time African champions, Argentina and Iceland.
