Ivan Perisic scored a late winner for Croatia who stunned champions Spain 2-1 in Bordeaux on Tuesday to finish top of Euro 2016 Group D with seven points.
The Inter Milan winger scored in the 88th minute after recieving a perfect pass from Nikola Kalinic and the midfielder fired in a low strike which deflected off the boot of Pique and past De Gea.
Spain, who had already booked their spot in the round of 16 after picking up two wins from their first two group matches, took the lead after seven minutes when Alvaro Morata tapped in Cesc Fabregas’ low drive for his third goal of the tournament.
But Croatia levelled late in the first half when Nikola Kalinic’s delicate finish past David de Gea.
Spain had a chance to restore their lead in the 70th minute but Sergio Ramos’s saw his spot kick saved by Danijel Subasic.
Croatia will face the third-place team from either Group B, Group E or Group F on Saturday night in Lens, while Spain will take on the winner of Group E Italy on Monday at the Stade de France.
At the Stade Bollaert-Delelism, goals from Burak Yilmaz and Ozan Tufan earned Turkey a 2-0 victory over Czech Republic, a result which keeps Fatih Terim’s side in the hunt for a last-16 place at Euro 2016 if Portugal lose by a 2-0 margin.
