Crystal Palace are hoping to sign Celtic and Super Eagles defender Efe Ambrose in the summer transfer window, according to a report in the Daily Mail.
Ambrose is said to have been watched closely by Palace’s scouts and they believe that he could improve their backline for next season, with Alan Pardew keen to bring him to Selhurst Park.
Celtic are believed to be looking for around £3 million for the defender, who is keen on starting a fresh challenge, and Palace, now the club of compatriot, Shola Ameobi, may be willing to meet their asking price.
Ambrose has had to play second-fiddle at Celtic for much of the season so far, but it could be a disappointment if they did lose the Nigerian.
As the report put it, though Ambrose is not the most comfortable in possession. The 2013 AFCON winner is a proven performer for the Bhoys and could have a key role to play next term.
Celtic have based much of their success this season around Virgil van Dijk and Jason Denayer’s partnership in the heart of their defence, but the pair are both set to leave Parkhead this summer.
Celtic are said to be resigned to losing Van Dijk in the summer, while Denayer is set to return to Manchester City after completing his loan spell.
