CSKA Moscow Coach: My Fight With Musa Led To His Goals

By Adeboye Amosu:

CSKA Moscow head coach Viktor Gancharenko has claimed his recent row with Ahmed Musa is responsible for the Nigeria forward’s rise in form, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

Musa, who is on loan at the club from English Premier League club Leicester City, was engaged in a bitter row with Gancharenko after he was substituted early in the second half in a league game against Dynamo.

Both men quickly moved on from the incident after a one-on-one discussion, with Musa now reaping the fruits of that meeting.

He has bagged three goals and two assists in his last three games for CSKA Moscow, including two goals in Sunday’s 2-1 Russian Premier League win against Kuban Krasnodar.

“After I replaced him against Dynamo, we had a tough conversation. I said that he is not my friend, that I want more from him,” Gancharenko said in his post-match conference after the game against Kuban Krasnodar.

“He agreed to work harder and If necessary, we will again engage in a squabble if he fails to up his game.”

The Nigeria international who is expected to make the country’s final 23-man squad to the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia has scored three goals in seven league games for CSKA since arriving in January.

  • Go fight .same with igalo  when rohr said his no 9 is not scoring and the. Next  game igalo scored 4 goals
Just den his coach was thinking of dropping him from d 35 man list .

  • That’s a good one.
I was wondering what Musa role was in the CSKA team after the match with Arsenal.
He has the pace, but his ball sence and final ball decision is questionable.
We can only wish he replicate this goal scoring feat week in week out and bring same to the Super eagles.

  • Chima E Samuels 3 years ago

Same problem with most SE strikers kayode especially they’ll run your defence down but when they meet a smart defence they cant score after the 100m race to goal. If only they can up their intelligence and finishing they survive leagues like Epl and laliga so lets not decieve ourselves with this ukraine and russia wonder if iheanacho goes to ukraine or this china he will be a goal king. Let mr Rohr fight them else they’ll keep playing those nonsense street fooball at the national team

    • Wow @Chima, see how you rubbished the skills of Kayode and Musa!

May I remind you that Kayode scored goals and terrorised defences of top European teams in the Europa league whilst playing in the Austrian Bundasliga.

If you were following football 4 years ago and your memory remains fresh, you will remember that Musa scored 2 delicious goals against former World champions Argentina (who went on reach the final of that tournament).

Additional, before moving to Leicester, Musa terrorised defences of Real Madrid, Manchester United and most recently Arsenal for CSKA Moscow in the Champions League and Europa League.

It is funny how these footballers are respected and held in high esteem by people outside Nigeria whilst their fellow Nigerians look down on their skills, attributes and achievements.

Not every player will play in the English premier league or Spanish la Liga. And not every player will have the attributes of Messi or Ronaldo.

It still doesn’t mean that they are not decent footballers in their own rights.

  • Nice one coach. A very good motivator. Hope GR will borrow a leaf.
