It was Changchun Yatai’s first win in four league outings following a draw and two defeats from their previous three games.

Ighalo who was also on target in Nigeria’s 3-0 win against Seychelles in a 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying fixture last weekend opened scoring for his side in the 36th minute from the penalty spot.

Nemanja Pejčinović and Adrian Mierzejewski scored the other goals for Changchun Yatai.

Ighalo has now scored 17 goals in 22 league appearances for his club this season.

The former Watford striker is now the second joint top scorer in the Chinse top flight this season along with Guangzhou R&F’s Eran Zahavi.

Wu Lei of Shanghai SPIG top the scorer’s chart with 20 goals.

  • _Feed Ighalo and he will score_

One contributor said something on this forum a while back that never ceases to make me laugh. It was at the back of one of the many articles featuring Ighalo’s recent goal scoring exploits in China.

Whist I can’t quote the guy verbatim, I think he said something along the lines of: “5 goals in China is the same as 1 throw-in in the Nigeria Professional Football League”.

Though I read that many weeks ago, it doesn’t stop making me laugh!

The Chinese league may not be the most glamorous but a striker still has to find the back of the net wherever he or she finds themselves and, as much as it hurts to say, Ighalo remains our most in-form striker out there at this moment.

We can all berate the Chinese league but Carlos Tevez of Argentina was regarded as a flop in the same league having scored 4 goals in 16 matches **according to Wikipedia**.

Ighalo remains a flop when it comes to the Super Eagles and this perception of him in national colours will only change if he can replicate his club form for Nigeria.

I like this Editor no be small o. When ever he noticed the forum is to cold, he will just put “Ighalo” name on board and everyone of us have no choice but to comment. Good job mr. Editor.

Therefore, the solution to Ighalo problem of not scoring often in the national team is quite simple.

    1. He have to learn how to be calm at the 18 yard box.

    2. He needs to have a vision and confidence

    3. He have to know what to do before getting the ball at the 18 yard box

    4. He must learn how to used with the pressure. It is not about the league you play in some times but your decision making is very important in every situation.

    5. Every day is not a new year festival. If you don’t score, you create chances for others.

    6. He needs to learn how to take shots on goal and also, he needs to learn how to take a risk.

    7. As a striker at this level, he must be bold enough to know what to do or to talk with his manager on what to do to improve his goal scoring .

    8. Opportunity:
Opportunity only comes once but in Ighalo’s situation was more than five times now if I’m not mistaken? I think he should count himself lucky.

    9. Good positioning in every game is very vital as a main striker. Ighalo should please keep that in mind.

    10. Lastly, he should go back and watch his video matches he has already played with the national team, so that he can correct his mistakes but it seems like Nigerian players have no time to learned from their past mistakes. That is why they all failed to improved themselves. They should take C Ronaldo as an example. He never gives up.

However, Mr. Editor, I think I have finished part of the assignment you gave to us sir, my colleagues in the house would finished the rest of it later on.

Happy weekend my people. God bless us all. God bless Nigeria!!!
