Cuper: Egypt Will Attack Against Nigeria In Alexandria

By Adeboye Amosu:

Egypt head coach, Hector Cuper, says his side will go all out for a win in Tuesday's clash against Nigeria, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.

The Pharaohs held the Super Eagles to a 1-1 draw in the first leg of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying fixture at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna on Friday.

A win in the return fixture at the Borg El- Arab Stadium, Alexandria will almost guarantee qualification for the seven-time African champions who have failed to qualify for the last three editions of AFCON.

And the former Inter Milan and Valencia coach is looking forward to his side picking maximum points against the Super Eagles.
"We will have an attacking approach and we aim to create more goalscoring opportunities," Cuper said in a televised  interview in Alexandria.

"We have one target against Nigeria which is achieving victory. All the players are ready and the atmosphere will be different from the first match."
The Argentine also said he is not  concerned about Chad's withdrawal from the qualifying series .

"We don't care whether Chad have withdrawn. We focus only on achieving victory against Nigeria."

Following Chad's withdrawal and the cancellation of their results, a win for Egypt would give the Pharaohs seven points to Nigeria's two.
Tanzania have one point with two games left for them, away to Nigeria and home to Egypt.

  • My hunch tells me this man is lying. Any coach worth his onion will come out to defend a 2 point lead knowing that the last opponent like Tanzania can be beaten anywhere home and away. Nigerians should be deceived for we have known the Egyptians to play pranks and do all funny and silly things to win a match of this nature and at their home for that matter. The Egyptians will never ever leave their defense open by going to attack to score which goal. They need a draw and beat Tanzania to qualify. Nigeria has no alternative but to attack attack attack to get a goal which automatically makes us top the group. Henhen, then they can attack because they are losing now. Siasia should be wise o.

All I know is that Nigeria has been pushed to the wall now, and CAF will see best of all the games in this AFCON qualifiers. If they like, let them go to the moon, they will fall in front of their home crowd, by God's grace.  No where to hide for Egypt.

I share your optimism. We lost 2 pts simply bcos we failed to tighten up at the back. I expected defensive subs after the 80 min mark, but Siasia decided to bring in more attackers. Moses shd start d next match in a 4-5-1 formation. Echiejile shd start this time at d LB
