Southampton midfielder Steven Davis has been linked with a return to former club Rangers with his future at St Mary’s in doubt.
The Northern Irishman, who left the Scottish Premiership outfit back in 2012 upon the club’s liquidation, has found game time hard to come by and new Saints boss Ralph Hasenhuttl is unlikely to stand in the 33-year-old’s way if he wants to move in January.

Gers manager Steven Gerrard is believed to be monitoring the situation and could be tempted to bring Davis back to the Old Firm giants, as the club find themselves struggling for depth after a frustrating 1-1 draw with 10-man Dundee at the weekend.
Davis will be out of contract at the end of the season but reports have suggested Saints would allow him to move on a free in January to get his wages off the books, as they look for reinforcement of their own at St Mary’s next month.
