Davis Makes Leicestershire Switch

Derbyshire’s fast bowler Will Davis has moved across the East Midlands to join Leicestershire on a two-year deal. The 22-year-old has impressed in his fledgling career with 40 first-class wickets in 13 matches at the County Cricket Ground, but he has jumped at the chance to move on to Grace Road.

Davis, who will link up with Derbyshire old boys Tom Taylor, Callum Parkinson and assistant coach John Sadler, told his new club’s website: “It’s a very important time in my career, I felt that I needed a change and I’m delighted that Leicestershire have made me a great offer to join them.

“After meeting the coaching staff with my representative, the experience and ambition they portrayed made it an easy decision to join and I can’t wait to get started. The improvement they have shown this year under Paul Nixon speaks for itself and I want to contribute to making even greater strides in the years to come.”

Head coach Paul Nixon added on Leicestershire’s website: “Will is a highly-promising young quick bowler who we have been tracking for a while.

“Will burst on to the county scene with a number of quality performances but had his chances limited due to Derbyshire’s experienced pace attack. He has had a good start to his county career.”
