De Gea Deal Delay

De Gea Deal Delay

Manchester United officials are being ‘kept waiting’ in their attempts to sign off on a new deal for goalkeeper David De Gea. According to senior Old Trafford sources, the Red Devils were hoping to announce the Spain number one had agreed a new five-year deal worth around £350,000-per-week last month.

Talks have been ongoing since the end of last season, with no indication United would not be able to reach a new agreement with the brilliant 27-year-old.

However, there have been worrying rumblings in recent weeks that the shot-stopper’s representatives have pivoted since Liverpool and Chelsea both paid out world record fees to sign goalkeepers, none with De Gea’s global gravitas.

United want to send out a positive message after a rocky start to the campaign which has seen Jose Mourinho’s team lose two of their opening four Premier League games.

Velobet

De Gea has seen a possible exit to Real Madrid close after Thibaut Courtois arrived in the summer from Stamford Bridge, further raising eyebrows inside United as to what the ongoing delay is.

De Gea was signed from Atletico Madrid for £19m in 2011 and his camp know the Manchester giants retain very deep pockets, having agreed to make Alexis Sanchez the highest-paid player in England on £505,000-per-week when he quit Arsenal back in January.
