DeChambeau Wins Northern Trust

Bryson DeChambeau wrapped up victory at the Northern Trust and hopes to have sealed a Ryder Cup wildcard in the process. DeChambeau carded a final round score of 69 in New Jersey to finish on 18 under, four shots ahead of fellow American Tony Finau, and hopes he has done enough to impress USA team captain Jim Furyk.
The 24-year-old just missed out on an automatic place in Furyk’s team after all the top eight spots were confirmed after the US PGA Championship two weeks ago, but is hoping to take one of the wildcards.

“I knew once I missed the cut, I was not going to have a chance to make the top eight,” DeChambeau said. “That was really disappointing and especially with the way it happened.
“I knew that I’m good enough, especially after playing so well this year, to be on that team.
“I can’t look at it as that anymore. I’ve just got to look at it as each week is unique and yeah, I can’t focus on how this affects the Ryder Cup.
“Each week is unique and I’ve got to play my best each and every week, and if I play well in the FedExCup playoffs, the rest will speak for itself. That’s all you can do.”
