Denmark Stars Not Banking On 6-2 Friendly Rout Of Olympic Eagles

Denmark U-23s captain, Lasse Vibe, and goalkeeper, Jeppe Hojbjerg, have both predicted a tough match against Nigeria U-23s in Saturday's quarter-final of the men's football event of the on-going Rio Olympic Games.

Denmark finished second in Droup A despite losing 4-0 to Brazil in their last group game.

The U-23 Eagles also lost their last group game 2-0 to Colombia but had already booked their place in the knockout stage following wins against Japan and Sweden.

The last time Nigeria U-23s faced Denmark was at this year's Suwon Invitational tournament in South Korea which the Danes won 6-2.

Hojbjerg posited that the encounter will be different from their last meeting at the Suwon tourney.

"It’s going to be a different match," Hojbjerg told FIFA.com. "That was a friendly game. You never know which players will play. Of course we can use the experience from that game but we just have to perform well."

On his part, Vibe said he hopes his side replicate their performance against South Africa which they won 1-0 ahead of the Nigeria clash.

"I'm expecting a difficult match. I hope we can play like we did against South Africa."

Meanwhile, Vibe pointed out that the fact that they do not need to travel to a different venue will be to their advantage.

Nigeria U-23s who played Colombia in Sao Paulo, will have to travel to Salvador, the venue where Denmark faced Brazil.

"It's definitely an advantage," said Vibe.

"With this tight schedule and games every three days, recovery and sleep are very important.

"We've been travelling a lot. We went to Rio as well after the first game to participate in the opening ceremony. We're very happy to stay here and that'll be a good thing for us."
