France coach Didier Deschamps believes Nigeria’s mini bonus crisis will have no effect on the team when they file out against les Bleus on Monday.
The Nigeria squad boycotted training last Thursday as they pressed for their World Cup appearance fees to be paid, but Deschamps said it would not be a factor.
“No, I don’t believe that. It happens to other African teams before, they are used to it,” Deschamps said. “I’m not saying it is a cultural thing, or to give them disrespect.”
The France coach said with a European team, the situation would have been different.
“If it happens to a European team, you know what I am talking about, it would have created a serious problem. But to them I don’t think it’s a serious problem.
“We are preparing for the game the same way we always do.
“What we’ve been doing in training is increase intensity of the sessions and the aggression,” he said.
“What I keep telling my players is that it’s the head that commands the legs.”
