Angel Di Maria has revealed Cristiano Ronaldo played a big role in his decision to join Manchester United this summer.
The former Real Madrid man moved to Manchester United for a British record transfer fee in August and has hit the ground running at his new club.
Di Maria has already scored three goals for Louis van Gaal’s men, including in last weekend’s 2-1 win over Everton.
But the Argentine admits he may not have made the switch to Old Trafford at all had it not been for former United star Ronaldo, who himself has been linked with a return in recent weeks.
‘Before we knew I was coming to Manchester, he told me it’s a massive club, I would be very happy here and it would be good for me,’ Di Maria said.
‘At that time we didn’t know for sure that I was coming or not, so we didn’t go into great detail, but what he did say helped me greatly to make my decision.’
