Senegal star forward Sadio Mane claimed the Budweiser Man of the Match award after getting on the score sheet in Sunday’s 2-2 draw against Japan in Group H of the Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup.
Mane’s choice as Man of the Match was announced on FIFA official’s website after the draw against Japan.
The Liverpool forward scored his first ever goal at a FIFA World Cup as he put Senegal 1-0 ahead.
Mane, however, expressed disappointment that Senegal could only settle for a share of the points.
“Frankly, we’re a bit disappointed, and that’s normal because there was a way for us to win this match,” he told FIFA.com.
“I felt we started the game well but then we let them back into it. But we can’t underestimate the Japanese team – they created quite a lot of opportunities and scored twice.
“Now we have a decisive match next week and we are going to prepare really well in order to qualify – that’s the only thing left for us to do.”
