Disu Applauds Flying Eagles For Korea Win

By James Agberebi:

Former Flying Eagles coach Tunde Disu has praised the team for their 4-0 win against North Korea at the on-going FIFA U-20 World Cup in New zealand.

The Flying Eagles bounced back from their loss to Brazil to put their campaign back on track with the win.
Disu, in a chat with completesportsnigeria.com, described the win as encouraging.

“The result was an encouraging one for the team, especially judging by what happened in their first against Brazil,” he said. “At least they’ve given us hope going forward.”

Disu who pointed out some of the mistakes the team made in the first half, however hailed Manu Garba for turning things around.

The coach that led the Flying Eagles to silver in 1989 added: “The first half wasn’t too bad but they lost lots of scoring chances because the midfield was muddled up. They were too anxious and they were holding on to the ball for too long.

“But I must commend the coach for making amends, he was smart this time around regarding his game plan.”

Ahead on their last group game against Hungary, Disu advised the coach to stick with the same players that featured in the Korean game.

“As they always say, you don’t change a winning team. And also, they should pray for luck,” he told completesportsnigeria.com.

A brace from Godwin Saviour and a goal each from Kingsley Sokari and substitute Isaac Success secured the win for the Flying Eagles.

They will take on Hungary on Sunday in their last group game.
