Novak Djokovic is eyeing a 14th Grand Slam title after beating Kei Nishikori to book a US Open final spot with Juan Martin del Potro. The Serbian ace was far too good for his Japanese opponent, running out a 6-3 6-4 6-2 winner to move through to Sunday’s showpiece.
Waiting on the other side of the net will be the giant Argentinian, who advanced to the final when Rafael Nadal was forced to retire from their last-four clash when two sets down due to a knee problem.
Djokovic is favourite to win a third New York crown to join Pete Sampras on 14 career Grand Slams and, despite his glittering career, the Monte Carlo resident is still hungry for success.
“It means the world to me. I am trying to be the best that I can be,” he said. “I am working hard every day and trying to reach certain heights that I visualise every time I accomplish something big.
“I don’t see any limits. I keep on going and hopefully you are enjoying my tennis.”
