Doherty Accepts Vardy Apology

Matt Doherty has no hard feelings towards Jamie Vardy after the Leicester man apologised for his dangerous tackle on Saturday. Vardy was given a straight red card on 66 minutes at the King Power Stadium for a dangerous lunge at the Wolves defender, with Doherty substituted soon after the incident.

It capped a miserable day for the 26-year-old Republic of Ireland stopper, who also scored an own goal as the Foxes completed a fortunate 2-0 success.
There was little debate that Vardy deserved to be sent off but it seems as though all is forgiven as the England striker sought out his victim to ensure that he was not badly hurt.

“I’m fine, I’ve just got some stud marks,” said Doherty. “My leg wasn’t planted which was beneficial to me. I’m fine. I think if my leg was planted it would have been worse but a split-second before, I could see it coming, so I kind of rolled with it.

“He still caught me but I’m okay. To be fair he knocked and looked in and asked if everything was alright. I said it was fine so there were no hard feelings. He said his apologies, so I’m fine with that.”
