Dolphins FC of Port Harcourt have revealed that starting from this weekend’s match day-20 of the NPFL Glo Premier League clash with Nasarawa United, all their home matches in the League will be played at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Omagwa, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
This is sequel to a directive by the League Management Company, LMC, in the aftermath of the approval of the stadium to host league games.
Completesportsnigeria.com recalls that the first leg match of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games soccer qualifier between Nigeria’s U-23 team and their Congo counterparts was decided last week at the stadium named after former Nigeria international and one time Rivers State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice.
Two goals from Junior Ajayi in the second half had handed the Nigerians a 2-0 lead before the visitors pegged one back to end the tie 2-1.
China Acheru, spokesman of the struggling Port Harcourt side confirmed in a statement made available to Completesportsnigeria.com that the match day-20 game will now be played at the new stadium rather than their original home ground, Liberation Stadium, Elekahia in Port Harcourt.
“The game comes up on Saturday, August 1, 2015 at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Sports Complex,” Acheru said in the statement.
“The match kicks off at 2pm while Sharks will take on Warri Wolves at 4pm inside the same stadium.
“It will be a night of double header, the first in the second round of the 2014/2015 Premier League,” Acheru disclosed.
In the reverse fixture, Dolphins lost 1-0 to Nasarawa United in Makurdi on Match Day 19.
