Dolphins, Sharks Players End Strike

By Adeboye Amosu:

Normalcy returned to the camp of Glo Premier League sides, Dolphins and Sharks,  as the players of both clubs returned to training Monday morning, following a seven-day strike action, completesportsnigeria.com can report.

The players were protesting over the non-payment of their salaries and other entitlements but shelved the action after urgent pleas by their coaches and management of the clubs.

Dolphins captain, Austine Festus, revealed to completesportsnigeria.com that the players took the decision to suspend the strike in respect to the new administration in Rivers State and their coach as well as the club hierachy who have worked round the clock in the last days to see that their demands were met.

The former Bendel Insurance of Benin central defender further said they are looking forward to league resumption after the three weeks recess.

''We have called off the strike and all the players took part in training this morning,'' he told completesportsnigeria.com.

''Our collegues too at Sharks also had their tranning this morning. Though we have not been paid our monies, we agreed to return to training as a mark of respect for the new government and our managements.

''We hope they live up to their promise and pay in days to come as against to what we experienced in the past.
''Now we are focused on the task ahead and eagerly waiting for the league to commence again this weekend."
