Dolphins, Sharks Players On Strike Again

By Adeboye Amosu:

Players of Port Harcourt-based outfits, Dolphins and Sharks, have threatened to boycott their remaining games in the Glo Premier League if their salaries are not paid, reports

The players have at  different times this season boycotted training to protest the non-payment of their salaries by the Rivers State government, who own the two clubs..

The League Management Company have also threatened to sanction Dolphins following a petition sent to them by a player of the club.

Dolphins captain Austine Festus disclosed to that henceforth the players will not participate in any training sessions or honour their remaining seven games.

"We have tried all our best to ensure they pay us our salaries, but they have refused to do so," Festus told

"Now, we don't have any choice than embark on a strike.

"We will not train or play the remaining games until our demands are met."

Both clubs are in tough battles to escape the drop and the latest development could hamper their survival hopes.
Sharks who defeated Dolphins 1-0  in a local derby on Sunday sit in the 17th position, while Dolphins occupy the 18th position.
