By Johnny Edward: Dordrecht ended Fortuna Sittard’s seven-game winning streak in the Dutch second division league on Friday, spanking former Nigeria coach Sunday Oliseh’s side 3-0, Completesportsnigeria.com (CSN) reports.
Goals from Jafar Arias, Robert Mutzers and Jafar Arias condemned Fortuna Sittard to their first defeat in the league in two months.
The defeat was their fifth of the season.
Fortuna Sittard’s last league defeat was a 1-0 loss to Cambuur on November 17, 2017.
But despite their defeat, the Oliseh’s side remain top of the Dutch second division table with just a point ahead of second placed NEC Nijmegen who lost 3-2 away to Almere City FC on Friday.
Fortuna Sittard will host eighth placed FC Emmen in their next game next Friday.
Last Friday, Fortuna were crowned champions of the Period 2 after defeating Jong Ajax 2-1.
A Period in the Dutch second tier consists of nine match days. Four periods make up the Dutch second division league in a season, each made up of nine matches.
The winner of each of the four periods qualifies for a promotion play-off at the of the season with only the top team gaining promotion to the Dutch top flight League (Eredivisie).
