Super Eagles of Nigeria striker Odion Ighalo could not help Changchun Yatai halt their recent poor run in the Chinese Super League (CSL) as they lost 2-0 at home to Beijing Guoan on Saturday.
It was Changchun Yatai’s third straight league defeat and back-to-back home defeat after losing to Mikel Obi’s Tianjin Teda last weekend.
Jonathan Soriano gave Beijing Guoan the lead when he struck in the 16th minute to make it 1-0.
And in the 70th minute, Cedric Bakambu, who is in the Democratic Republic of Congo squad that will face the Super Eagles in a friendly on May 28, scored the second goal for Beijing Guoan.
Changchun Yatai are now 13th on 11 points in the 16-team CSL table.
Ighalo, who recently won April Player of the Month in the Chinese League, featured in his 11th league game against Beijing Guoan and has scored seven goals.
