Dragons Ace Anderson To Hang Up His Boots

Catalans Dragons’ back-row forward Louis Anderson has announced that he will retire from the sport at the end of the season. The 33-year-old has been with the Perpignan outfit since 2012, making 134 appearances and scoring 34 tries.

Beginning his career with New Zealand Warriors in 2004, the former New Zealand international opted to try his luck in Super League with Warrington, and spent three seasons with the Wolves between 2008 and 2011.

However, it is with the Dragons that he has played the majority of his club rugby and the Dargaville-born veteran admitted it has been an honour to feature for the French outfit.

“I am so grateful to have worn this jersey for the last seven years! What an amazing journey,” he said.

Steve McNamara, the Dragons’ head coach, added: “Louis has been a fantastic servant not only for the Catalans Dragons but also the whole of rugby league.

“He is highly respected by everyone within the game. His decision to retire after a glittering career will leave a big void to fill within our team.”
