Midfielder Julian Draxler has expressed his frustration at the way his time at Paris Saint-Germain is often portrayed by the media. Draxler is not always guaranteed a start for the French champions and has often had to settle for a place on the bench.
The 25-year-old has been in Thomas Tuchel’s XI for just three of the nine Ligue 1 games played so far this term, although injuries have also affected his availability.
The Germany international believes his lack of action is sometimes overplayed by the media and he’s satisfied with his progress in Paris since joining from Wolfsburg in January 2017, where he’s made 81 appearances in all competitions, scoring 16 goals.
He said: “Sometimes I’m surprised by some of the analysis, the perception of my playing time in Paris, for example. If I start three games in a row, I score and we win, it’s not as much highlighted as when I’m on the bench for 90 minutes. It annoys me a bit.
“I feel pretty realistic when evaluating my performance with my coaches. Sometimes it coincides with the public opinion, sometimes not, but it’s football, there are many ways to look at it.”Copyright © 2022 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
