Brighton defender Shane Duffy says he has never been happier in his career after being questioned about a move to a top club. The Republic of Ireland international has been a key part of Chris Hughton’s side since he made the switch from Blackburn in 2016 and recently signed a new long-term contract with the club.
Duffy has formed a highly effective central defensive partnership with Lewis Dunk, the pair have recently keep three clean sheets on the bounce during Brighton’s run of three successive victories.
The 26-year-old’s excellent form has inevitably lead to questions as to whether he could eventually leave the Amex Stadium in the future for one of the Premier League’s big teams.
However, Duffy says that notion has not even entered his mind and insists he’s more than content playing for Brighton at this time.
He told The Argus: “I’m far away from that. I’m so happy here. This is probably the happiest I have been at any club I’ve been at.
“I am grateful to the club for even taking a chance on me when I was going through a bad period at Blackburn.
“Everyone’s ambition is to go as high as they can but for me that’s not even in my head for one second.
“You never know if it comes upon you but I’m just so happy here.”
