Striker Edin Dzeko is keen to sign a contract extension with Roma, according to reports in Italy. The Bosnia international came close to joining Chelsea during the January transfer window earlier this year but the deal fell through.
Dzeko, 32, is currently under contract until 2020 but the former Manchester City man is keen to extend his stay by a further year, according to the Gazzetta dello Sport.
Chelsea did not reignite their interest during the summer, with the English club changing managers as Maurizio Sarri replaced Antonio Conte, but Roma may be open to handing Dzeko an improved deal regardless to ensure the striker doesn’t attract attention from elsewhere in the upcoming January transfer window.
Dzeko initially joined Roma on loan in 2015 before making the move permanent the following year, and he has managed 54 goals in 107 Serie A appearances in total for the Giallorossi.
