Eagles Alert!  5 Reasons Algeria Will Be Dangerous In Uyo

The Fennecs of Algeria will face Nigeria in a must win Russia 2018 World Cup qualifying fixture  on Saturday, November 12, at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo. Completesportsnigeria.com's ADEBOYE AMOSU highlights five reasons why the Super Eagles must be wary of the visitors.

The Fennecs parade one of the best attacking talents in the continent at the moment. On their day, the trio of Riyad Mahrez,  Islam Slimani and Yaccine Brahimi could be unstoppable.

With the Super Eagles defence failing to inspire confidence in recent games, the North Africans will be out to explore that weak area and pick a crucial win in the game.

How well the  Eagles will cope with the dangerous trio and Algeria's other attackers will play a decisive role on who wins the tie.

Algeria drew 1-1 against Cameroon in their matchday-one fixture, and will be desperate to secure three points in the game to boost their chances of picking the Group B's sole ticket.

Defeat or draw in the game will be dangerous to Algeria's aspiration and that will make the encounter a tough affair for the Super Eagles.

The Super Eagles have dominated the last six meetings between them and the Fennecs.

The Eagles have won five of those games with the other ending in a draw. Their last defeat against the Fennecs was in the final of the  1980 Africa  Nations Cup which Nigeria hosted.

Ranked as the number one team in Africa, the North Africans will be determined to maintain their status as Africa's best against their hosts.

With a new coach in charge, the Algerian
players will be fired up for the game. Players who didn't feature much under the previous gaffer will be out to impress which will make them more difficult to play against.

The Algerians made a big impression at the last FIFA World Cup in Brazil  and are keen to make a return at Russia 2018.

That hunger will make them a dangerous opponent all through the qualifiers, and the Super Eagles will need to be at their best to win the match in Uyo.

  • The about is just an alarmist jingle. A proper article of rncouragement would sound like this- RED ALERT- 5 REASONS NIGERIA WILL BE MORE DANGEROUS IN UYO. 1) Fearsome attack: Iwobi, Victor Moses, Iheanacho, Brown Ideye, Oghenekaro, Ighalo, Ahmed Musa. 2) Thirst for more victory after beating Zambia  away. 3) Hunger to increase rich run against Algeria. 4) Motivated to satisfy ndw coach Rohr. 5) Very great desire to play in World cup. CS should stop praising the Algeria team and players.

I totally agree with you Djenko, we are very wary of outright patriotism but I guess it was corrected in Alao's note in today's issue where he says WE will beat Algeria. For me I am more concerned about Cameroun match, I have this strong feeling the match at the Nest of Champions will be an anti climax 'cause Super Eagles will run circles round Fennecs (Desert Foxes).

  • This type of story is not only unfortunate but counter productive.I am of the opinion that the reporter should have rather boost the morale of our players and give hope than sounding alarmist. What is so great in the Algerian team?We have a good compliment of good players too.All we need is to celebrate ours. Are they unbeatable? If they are so great, how come Cameron scored first in Algiers, and only managed to equalise in the dying stage of the match?I strongly believe that on a good day,Nigeria’s Super Eagles are among the best teams in the world. All that is needed is huge support from all of us.Spare us this type of sensational, alarming reports. The Algerian team is beatable!

  • Yes, the Algerians are beatable, but my fears is that the Akpabio's stadium is not favourable to the super eagles.  The Nigerian Super Eagles is a good side, but atimes venue does not allow them perform well.It is high time the national stadium, Lagos is put in order to enable the super eagles play all their home matches there.  I am tired of seeing the national teams play their home matches as if they are playing away matches..Today, it is Akpabio stadium, tomorrow it's Port-Harcourt stadium, next it it Abuja stadium, etc – Rubbish!..  I however have hope Super Eagles must beat Algeria in Uyo period.
