Eagles Draw With Swaziland Shocks Chukwu

By Sab Osuji:

Former Nigeria captain and coach, Christian Chukwu has expressed surprise that the Super Eagles could not break down Swaziland in Friday’s 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier in Somhlolo, C‎ompletesportsnigeria.com reports.

Chukwu who once handled Harambee Stars of Kenya and SAFA FC of Lebanon said the scoreless draw the senior national team recorded in the game was least in his calculation, but remained optimistic the Super Eagles will turn things around in Tuesday’s return leg match in Port Harcourt.

“I can’t believe it (that the match ended in a draw),” Chukwu exclaimed when ‎Completesportsnigeria.com called him up after the game.

”I agree there are no more minors in football these days, but it surprises me that Swaziland could hold us to a draw.

“Even though I did not watch the game, but I was expecting a win for the Super Eagles so that we can come back to Port Harcourt and consolidate.

“I never thought of a draw at all. It was never in my mind we were going to draw the game.

“All the same, that has demonstrated clearly what football is; unpredictable,” the former Enugu Rangers captain and coach stressed.

Chukwu however expressed hope that the Super Eagles can still turn the table against the Southern African side.

“It’s like the first half of the game has just been decided. Let us wait and see what happens in the second half which is the return leg match in Port Harcourt next week.

“I believe the Eagles will win and get their World Cup qualification well on track,” Chukwu who is called ‘Chairman’ by his admirers said.
