Crystal Palace reportedly failed with a summer bid to sign Argentinian striker Emiliano Sala from Ligue 1 side Nantes. The 27-year-old, who bagged 12 goals in each of the past two seasons for Nantes, has already scored three times in just two games this term, so it is no surprise that he has been linked with several teams across Europe.
It was believed that Watford failed with a big-money offer worth around £15million, while Sala favoured a switch to join Turkish side Galatasaray.
He ended up staying put in France, with reports now claiming that Palace boss Roy Hodgson also attempted to lure Sala to Selhurst Park due to question marks over the form of current hitman Christian Benteke.
Sala has refused to sign a new deal with Nantes beyond summer 2020 and could be made available in January, although it seems Palace will struggle to pull off a deal if Galatasaray join the race.
