Eagles Get Lucky Draw Vs Tanzania, Top Group

By Johnny Edward In Dar es Salaam:

The Super Eagles were lucky to escape with a 0-0 draw against Tanzania in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier here in Dar es Salam on Saturday.

The game, which was coach Sunday Oliseh’s first competitive game, saw the Eagles struggle to make any meaningful impact with only new keeper Carl Ikeme distinguishing himself with several top class saves.

The skilful, pace, well-organised Tanzanians created a hatful of chances but they were thwarted by poor finishing or the excellent Ikeme, who was in the team only because Vincent Enyeama was absent after a family bereavement.

The Eagles made the first change of the game when Haruna Lukman, who had a rather poor game, was removed for debutant Sylvester Igboun in the 36th minute.

In the second half, the duo of Anthony Ujah and Emem Eduok replaced Moses Simon and Emenike, but the changes failed to yield anything meaningful.

The Eagles top the group temporarily with four points.

Their next game is against Pharaohs of Egypt, and it comes up in March 2016 in Nigeria.

Meanwhile, the group’s other game between Chad and Egypt comes up on Sunday in Chad.

Oliseh might eventually FAIL. He is yet to be wise in Team Selection. The same disease Stephen Keshi had. Where are classed players in our attack like Victor Anichebe, Victor Moses – Even though he might not be playing regularly yet, such players will always distinguish themselves in any game, Ighalo playing for watford. Also players like Ikechukwu Uche will always deliver at any moment. Am yet to see any quality in Oliseh team. Anthony Ujah and the rest can never ever be classes at fist class players. So why starting your coaching with the Super eagles, with unnecessary mistakes.

    Nice teem and there ok

  • The honeymoon is over!!! It’s time to speak the hard truth now. As much as we love Oliseh, the invited players will Super disappoint Oliseh and Nigeria. It’s not funny. Thanks to Carl Ikeme we would have lost this match. Carl, Musa, Emenike and 8 local players would have won this game. Oliseh’s gross mistake was not inviting the so call “KESHI” boys- Moses, Onazi, Oghali. Why was Iheanacho not invited? This is Tanzania we are discussing for goodness sake. How can we qualify for the AFCON with Ghana, Ivory Coast, Senegal, Morocco, Cameroon, Tunisia around. We are in trouble.

  • Nice one more effort

most Nigerians are too in hurry to conclude issues, they fail to know that the team is just few days old and that the coach has just been employed, the boys playing to pick.a point at away are credited, and with time they will do well let surport them instead of bombarding them

Oliseh really messed up with Emenike’s gamble instead of Ighalo. Comparing the number of goals scored by both. Whoever advised Oliseh to do that did not do well.

oliseh experimented with this match which shouldnt be we already have a team and the phrase that we are building a new team beats my imagination thereby inviting players from obscure clubs the truth is that if you are a good player u play for a big club whether on the bench or not mikel moses ike uche osaze should be back for our next match and iheanacho should be given the chance to play as a creative midfielder lets pray that egypt did not win todays match
