A number of Super Eagles stars have backed the return of Stephen Keshi as the coach of the senior national team. Keshi who is expected to sign a new two-year deal to continue on the job was praised by Volyn winger Michael Babatunde who claimed that the move was the perfect one for the team.
Babatunde, who played all 90 minutes against Dynamo Kiev as his side lost 2-1 at home over the weekend, told Complete Sports Keshi’s return will strengthen the team.
“If he returns it will be a good one for the continuity for the team,” Babatunde began.
“We all deserve a chance to prove ourselves and I think he will make the team more formidable than it was.”
John Ogu added that Keshi’s return means the team need to work and improve more than they have ever done.
“His second coming will be very stern and I think it will help because square pegs will be in square holes now. He’s a good coach and I think it is only fair he’s allowed to correct his mistakes himself,” the midfielder said.
Monaco defender Elderson Echiejile who is poised to feature in tomorrow’s UEFA Champions league clash against Juventus hailed the Nigerian Football Federation for sticking with the ‘Big Boss’.
He said: “There was a turnaround when he arrived and I believe he can still reignite it with the right mix in the team.
“In football results will make or break you and I think he is better off now. I respect him so well.”
