Super Eagles new invitee Uche Agbo has expressed gratitude to his coach in Granada CF Lucas Alcarez for his transition from a midfield player to a defender for club and country.
The former Flying Eagles midfielder who is now making waves in the Spanish La liga told Completesportsnigeria.com
"I never believed I would ever play as a defender in a top league in Europe but after playing sparingly as a midfielder for Granada, I think I am a better player than when I first went to Europe in 2013. I am enjoying football as a defender and I want to improve my game and be among the best in LaLiga," Agbo said.
"It is gratifying that I never got a look in as a midfielder by the national team selectors but after just six games into the new season, my coach and other officials have been praising me for my performance so far and I got a late invitation to the Super Eagles. I cannot ask for more."
Agbo said his mission now is to play his way into the Super Eagles starting eleven by impressing the manager and helping Nigeria to qualify for the World Cup in Russia.
