Proved a reliable force again as he thwarted the Congolese efforts at getting a goal in the encounter.Enyeama’s crucial penalty save was one major reason why the Super Eagles are on the verge of booking a ticket to Equatorial Guinea 2015  to defend the crown they won last year in South Africa.

The Celtic defender was the worst Nigerian player on the pitch and the Red Devils forwards took delight in launching their attacks through his side of the defense.

Had a difficult task in curtailing the opposing defenders but put up a solid showing in the absence of his regular central defensive pairing, Kenneth Omeruo.

Picked as replacement for the injured Kenneth Omeruo. The warri Wolves defender was jittery in the early part of the game but recovered to put up an average performance.

Retained his place in the team after getting selected ahead of Elderson Echiejile in the last game against Sudan and did enough not to disappoint the selectors.

The Reading man didn’t really acquit himself in the task of playing in a huge game like this and was duely replaced by Sone Aluko early in the second half after picking up an injury.

Not one of his best games for the African Champions as he struggled to assert himself in the middle of the park.

The Chelsea of England midfielder started the game brightly but fizzled out as the encounter wore on. He provided the assist for Emmanuel Emenike’s penalty which resulted in Nigeria‘s first goal of the match.

Failed to replicate his match winning heroics of the match day four. Will need to add more consistency to his game.

Won the penalty that was converted by Ikechukwu Uche for his side’s first goal but once again had a below par game for the West Africans.

Justified his recall to the team by scoring the first goal. He will certainly play a big role for the Super Eagles in Uyo against South Africa.

He came in for the injured Hope Akpan and added more bite to the Eagles attack. The Hull City of England star provided the assist for the crucial second goal.

The China based forward once again justified his inclusion into the game by scoring the important second goal for the Super Eagles few minutes after coming as a replacement for Emmanuel Emenike.

Added more bite to the attacking department, after replacing the misfiring Ahmed Musa late on.

This article rates 1/10 . The writer urgently needs to see a therapist.

    • Exactly! I don’t know the match he watched to be rating Ekwuekwe and Obobona 7, even gave Uche 8, Uche deserves a 6 or 7, not 8. Also Mikel deserves better than 6. GE played well to my assertion.

  • What Did Uche Played, HES just average, goal was a penalty, atleast 6/10 not eight, Vincent deserves 9/10, or 10/10, and EGUWUEKE Deserves 8/10. My view though.

@Presh, i agree with you on Egwueke Azubuike, the guy did well. I would like to see him play more in that position but Efe should be dropped from that position and let Omeruo play his position, Kenneth has become too casual for my liking in the central position so is better Keshi move him to the right back.

Uche played well but not up to 8/10 may be 6 or 5 not certainly 8

I also suggest the Nff should forward a strong protest to caf over the conduct of the congolese fans in the wee hours of the game which held up the game in the injury tìme , because now we have 3 goals edge over congo and you know nothing is certain in football, what if congo sets aside the goal difference in their last march with sudan and nigeria wins South Africa wt a lower goal margin they will still qualify ahead of Nigeria am advocating a protest because who knows we may have nicked one or 2 more goals in the extra time but the congolese fans denied us that possibility

I must commend the superb performance of of Vicent Enyeama in that encounter. However, I hope Keshi also reads some of our comments so that he can learn some wisdom from the fans. First of all, he needs to know who to start the game. I discovered that as soon as Sone Aluko and Aaron Samuel came, we saw a drastic change in the game. Our attackers were dormant because there was no one who will supply the passes. I will like Keshi to tell the boys that if they do not know how to use long balls accurately, let them stop it. Onazi and Mikel have in recent times lost our ball possession into our opponents by giving inaccurate passes.
Let them place the ball on the ground and pass accurately. Mikel really improved in this last game when Sone came in. He was able to play his role.
If our strikers can get accurate pass, they will rain goals against Bafana Bafana. Bafana must fall.

  • I think Oshaniwa deserves more than what is being given him. May be a point to be taken away from UCHE, though he tried but I do not like he wasted 2 begging chances except this is a campaign for him to maintain his shirt.
Concerning, Efe Ambrose, he is a good player with a bad day.

  • Richard 7 years ago

Am not sure how Efe Ambrose gets into this team, he has to be the worse right back or centre back that Nigeria has ever produce. I swear we have better more capable defenders in our league in Nigeria. Even Leon Balogun should be called back now from Germany or play Omeruo there.

I believe u guys have said it all but have it in mind that God can give a team win just because of one person not the impart the person make I believe IK UCHE did well like wise other players we have to thank God for this winning also pray for our next match this foot ball is not easy my friends. Like I said b4 let’s put them in our next match to win BAFANA that’s my own thank u all…..

  • Marsh 7 years ago

If Nigeria and Congo end up on the same point, one of them can qualify as best losers but depending on the point in other groups.

  • Gud job guys,it was nt an easy game, one more left n a compulsory win to v a automatic qualification or to b d best loser cos after studying all other groups n their points it shows dat there is possibility of having d best loser in our group if Nigeria n Congo win their last match.go eagles, nothing but a must win.

I disagree with your rating of Musa and IK Uche. Uche is good any day but definitely not at his best on this particular match, so at most 7/10 is ok for him, while Musa deserves more, perhaps 6 or 7/10. It was not a bad one generally, save for Efe that was the weakest link. Keshi must do something on this.
