that’s why we don’t have good players anymore, using money and gift to pamper them, his mates are still in Russia playing

Enjoy it, one in 10 million. Why not ?

This is a confused nation with mad leaders.
When others are busy sweating it out defending their national pride, some are here celebrating monumental stupidity!
A certain 19 year old donated his world cup bonus to charity, affirming that he never came to the world cup for monetary benefits but to defend his national pride.
But, here, we are celebrating mediocrity…
Na only Shehu go world cup?
Did we have any business loosing to Argentina?
    Thank God I have PVC…

@ Josiah Oyedele, u have said my mind. Mediocrity at all levels of leadership remains the bane of Nigeria.

  • The same Sokoto, one of the most poorest of the states in Nigeria, countless of homeless, unemployed graduates and millions of almajiris; this is a misplaced priority. I am not surprised by Tambuwal’s behavior, he is one of the mad men in power.

This is stupidity on display. This guy played only one match against Croatia and he was so poor that the Manager drafted Victor Moses to play his position. On what basis is he being celebrated? I am speechless. Mediocrity being celebrated.

Don’t blame the Governor, is free money, so what u guys expect!Sokoto state is always second or first in all bad indices in Nigeria. poverty, education, polio, River blindness, terrorism, etc.I guess Musa would be offered the VP slot after all he scored two goals.

What exactly is this reward for? There are alot of gifted kids without any sort of financial support, beggars littering the streets of sokoto and then you have an imbecile of a governor rewarding one of the below par performers…what if the eagles had got to the q finals….what will he do? Give him the state house? It’s time for the younger generation to take over this people are clueless and seem to be dragging us 20 years back when even countries like Kenya are moving forward.

This is a clear case of rewarding failure. This is how our so called Leaders waste the resources of the State on frivolities neglecting many of the things that should be done. The Team did not even get to second round and we are wasting money hosting them.

  • Let me try to put a position twist to this story.

What the Sokoto state governor is saying is that any kid who rises from local obscurity to international fame in football stands a chance of state recognition and reward.

From his humble beginnings at Kano Pillars and as a ‘B’ grade Super Eagles, Shehu Abhullahi has worked his way up to be a grade “A” Super Eagles with World Cup squad selection and 1 match day appearance to his name plus playing for a decent club in Europe.

In the eyes of His Excellency Governor Aminu, these achievements are worthy of recognition .

In my eyes, I question where his priorities lie……

Who among you would have declined the offer that was bestowed upon this young player judging from his humble beginning . ? The Governor believed that people seeing how this young man was anointed and recognized, that one day Sokoto will produce another Mikel Obi or even “Okocha the legend” of Nigeria, Motivation is what the football lover Governor was attempting to establish in Sokoto. Ogbemudia did the same thing in the Midwest State of old. The rest is history. The former Gov of Abia State ended up even doing more than most amazing things for soccer lovers not only in Nigeria but in the World judging the quality players that emerged from the core eastern part of Nigeria after he left Office.

Among those selling gworros on the street in Sokoto township today, there is one Shehu, one Mikel Obi and even one Iwobi. One can never say or see the future in an individual until fate calls. Amen ? Amen.

I wholeheartedly supported what Governor Tambuwal did in regard to Abdullahi Shehus gift as one of the talent and genius from the state of Sokoto that is good inspirational gift and also motivation to Shehus effective foundation. Others should copy from this Governor and also from Shehu by establishing a useful foundation.
