Eagles Stars Seek Europa League Redemption

By Johnny Edward:

Super Eagles players will be hoping to bounce back from their opening day results in the Europa League on Thursday.

Of all the Nigerians that featured on matchday one, only Paul Onuachu was victorious with FC Midtjylland who were 1-0 winners over Legia Warszawa.

Michael Babatunde, Imoh Ezekiel, Ogenyi Onazi, Elderson Echiejile and Efe Ambrose all drew with their respective teams.

In Norway, Babatunde will be hoping to make his debut in the competition with Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk after he missed his side’s 1-1 draw at home to Ogenyi Onazi’s Lazio.

Babatunde travelled with Dnipro and could feature against Rosenburg while Onazi, who has made his 20 appearances in the competition, has been listed for Thursday’s home clash against Saint-Etienne.

At the Louis Stadium in France, Elderson Echiejile is expected to play for Monaco who host Tottenham Hotspur on the back of their 4-1 win over Manchester City.

For Echiejile it will be his 13th appearance in the competition if he features for Monaco in the encounter. He has two goals to his credit.

In Azerbaijan, Imoh Ezekiel will be hoping to atone for his stoppage time miss in Anderlecht’s 1-1 draw on matchday one against AS MOnaco when they face Qarabag FK.

At Celtic Park, Efe Ambrose is expected to partner Dedryck Boyata in defence for Celtic who face Fenerbache. Celtic will go four points clear of the Turks in the group with a win having forced Ajax to a 2-2 draw in Amsterdam.
