  • This man is getting close to 100% satisfaction in his list releases now. It nearly rhymes with my own list, except that Ebuehi is missing. 3-0 home and away loading for Libya. Hahaha.

  • Ikeben 4 years ago

A very good list. Well done coach. I hope you choose the best starting 11, the best formation and make the right changes at the right time in other to get the job done both home and away.

In all fairness, I believe all the players called up have what it takes to win Libya home and away.

  • John Cena 4 years ago

It’s only a matter of time before Osimhen or Taiwo Awoniyi (if dey continue their good form and score goals regularly) displace Odion Ighalo

    • Chairmanfemi 4 years ago

I tell you. Most especially Oshimen. He’s in form and he should just keep working hard and scoring goals in Belgium and am sure the next match we’ll play, he will surely displace Ighalo. I so much love the competition in the team now. If you don’t work hard, you will be booted out. That the Super Eagles of my dream

  • Chairmanfemi 4 years ago

Go Go Coach Gernot Rohr! You made my day with this list. You are taking Super Eagles to Greater heights and it obvious for those that have good insight to see. For those wondering why we have 4 midfielders, just kindly remove Iwobi from the list of Strikers cuz he’s the one that is surely going to handle the No.10 role. Very Very good list. I pity Mr. Amrouche the Boaster and his less-fancied squad cuz they’ll be beaten Black and Blue

    • Ikeben 4 years ago

Iwobi is good as no.10, but I doubt if Rohr will play him there. He rather prefers to play Kelechi as no.10. Even in Leicester, he is now being played as no.10. But I think Iwobi, will do better. Well let’s wait and see.

  • _ Forensic Evaluation of List _

Nothing but a minimum of 4 points will satisfy the hunger of Super Eagles fans as a minimum acceptable outcome for back-to-back Afcon Qualifiers against Libya this month.

With the team list released today, are the necessary ingredients there to serve up a delicious overall victory for us across two legs?

    _ The List _

Pros – There is ample pace either sides of the full-backs and central defence has adequate aerial and ground threat neutralisers.

Con – The first choice goalkeeper is not his club’s first choice but he does make match day squads.

Pros – the defensive midfield offers more-than-adequate protection for the back four.

Con – The entire midfield lacks adequate fluidity and the attacking midfield could do with a bit more creativity.

Pros – Pace, power, precision and plenty of goal threats characterise the wings.

Cons – Conspicuous in its absence is the lack of a proven goal scorer of national team calibre.

Pros – Adequate covers available in defence and attacking left/right forwards.

Cons – Inadequate covers in the goalkeeping, attacking midfield and centre forward departments.

I have a problem with the fact that some of our regulars are still not doing first team football in their clubs eg. Balogun, Uzoho, Omeruo, Simon et al. The continued invitation of Ighalo still remains a mystery to me. Will be happy to see how Jamilu Collins performs as left full back. Overall deo did a good analysis.

  • Will Rohr play Iwobi as no 10? It’s a difficult question because of Rohr’s conservative nature. With this squad and good selection Libya should prepare for their worst humiliation.

  • Good selection remains to be seen

  • London goal 4 years ago

    Good selection

  • Empire 4 years ago

I will like to think that Rohr  is doing a great job with the team. With this team, we are sure of six points. The boys will be too hot for Libya boys to handle! This team is good to go !

Happy Independence Day Nigeria And Happy New Month My People. God bless Us All.

Concerning the list, I’m very satisfied. The only concern I’m having now is coach Rohr’s first 11,
substitutions, tactics and the time that he’s going to make the substitutions.

I’m very glad that Isaac Success is back and Semi. Now is time for business. I wish my darling Super Eagles the best of luck against Libya. God bless Nigeria!!!

  • Ayokunle Asaolu 4 years ago

Good one from Rohr. The only thing I find difficult to understand is the case of Ezenwa. He is not even the second choice at Enyimba and he kept getting called up ahead of Afekolahi. I think Rohr should take his time to study other goalkeepers and invite them instead of sticking to someone who is not seen club actions or the below average Akpeyi.

    • Chairmanfemi 4 years ago

I Stand to disagree Akpeyi is better than Ezenwa even if he’s not tasted action this season. And I guess Coach GR sticked to Ezenwa to keep the understanding with the players even if it for now.

  • Samson 4 years ago

    My starting 11 would be

    Semi, Ekong, Balogun, Ola Aina,

    Ndidi, Etebo,Ogu

Moses Simon, Henry, and Samuel Kalu

Iwobi Ighalo, Musa and Ihencho, will be my Jokers as substitute

    • That is a good starting XI. Only I will start Iwobi in the midfield with ndidi and etebo
This starting XI with right tactics and good understanding will be a nightmare for Libya or any team.

Semi, Ekong, Balogun, ola aina/ omeruo

      Ndidi, Etebo, Iwobi

      Moses Simon, Onyekuru, Samuel Kalu

Bring in Ahmed Musa for Simon or Onyekuru and Iheanachi to keep the pace in the attack for 90mins

The midfield with ndidi and etebo as defensive midfield and Iwobi slightly up in a CAM/#10 position. Etebo will bring the ball up from defensive positions with his pace man drop off to Iwobi with his pace, skill, spatial intelligence and direct runs to those 3 fast strikers man with right blend can score many goals. Iwobi can even join in the attack. 4-3-3 will be a good formation

  • Edoman of New Jersey. USA 4 years ago

Akpeyi and Ezenwa should not be here at all. Even Enyimba FC has finally dropped Ezenwa in their Continental Marches, why not invite Afekolahi who received a roving ratings in their last matches. Lets wait to see whom Rohr brings out to play before l make any comment. Ighalo should not be here also. Thanks folks.

    • onwajunior 4 years ago

Don’t you like Ezenwa’s stats? Apart from that goal against Cameroon – the penalty he caused, his stats are pretty good for SE. Even in the WAFU cup or CHAN (can’t remember which one) naija conceded four when he got injured. Was it not Afekolahi that played against A.Madrid? He conceded three goals. Yes, keepers concede goals but Ezenwa’s stats for SE are great. I don’t even want to talk about Akpeyi because that one will still concede goals no matter what.

  • Samson 4 years ago

Iwobi will come in for Etebo

Musa for Moses and Ihenacho for Henry if any of them Need to come in at all.

  • I am glad that he did not pick this Joel Obi.it is good he picked John Ogu instead. Ogu is by far better.

  • This is no doubt a very good list. I took my time to read all the older comments but I want us to note that Igalo inclusion in this team is a disaster this is the same whom we have always trusted with out attack and as only in 3 years scored 3 goals 0ne n 2016, one in the whole of 2017 against Cameroon in uyo and once in 2018 which is a world cup year and he only scored a penalty so far. My dear readers and fellow countrymen I believe igalo is never an answer and should never be anywhere near the national team. I no he has a very close relationship with rohr but with our placards IGALO must go in UYO we will all be doing our great nation a very big Favour. Yes Igalo as scored 18 goals in China this season but his poor start is not welcoming in Nigeria as it is obvious that his jinx does not work with the Eagles. Another big mistake coach Rough as made is by not inviting Danjuma Arnold’s who as been invited by the ducth football federation for there next match to captied him to holland. This danjuma said he is willing to play for Nigeria if given the chance and he is a freed goal scorer for club brugge his kind of attacking football and ability to sabi post is what we lack in our beloved coach and in regards to this I believe coach Rohr should reshuffle his scouting cabinet as I see Nigeria loosing another player of a good worth like we did to the likes of David Alaba and Dele alli. I love Igalo so much am his very big fan and I will always give my most profound kowtow anyday anytime because of his love and commitment for Nigerian National team but I strongly believe there is something about him when playing for us that can’t just make him deliver.
Thanks all and I can’t wait to see onyekuru nets his first hatrick and iwobi his first hatrick assist too
with kalu given us reasons y shouldnt miss our hero victor moses

    My starting eleven

    Aina. Balogun. Ekong. Ajayi

    Indidi. Etebo. Iwobi

    Kalu. Ihaenacho/success. Ahmed musa/ Oyenkuru

On the need for our scouts to be more on the look there is this lovely 4 who is of a Nigerian Parentage and plays for Huddersfield in EPL named Phillip Billing this guy is our next INdidi his work rate is massive and he is still eligible to play for Naija. Thanks

    • onwajunior 4 years ago

I think we’ve already lost Danjuma. The player our coach should concentrate on is Ebere Eze. He’s already linked with Spurs. If he starts getting time with Tottenham forget it, he’ll play for England.

    • Chairmanfemi 4 years ago

When i said we need Danjuma and should all clamor for his inclusion, some people in this group who know nothing about him said NO. Now we’ve lost him to Netherlands and now we’ve realized we just lost a big thing. Ebere Eze is wearing the No.10 jersey for QPR to show how good he is. He plays like Dele Alli and we should go for him now.

  • good list, 9ice job my manager. excactly wat i expected but i wil not satisfy til ebuehi, osimhen, arrive. yab, iwobi wil be too tough for libyan, and kalu, success.

  • Onimsi 4 years ago

Happy people agree with the list.. This is a good list

  • Oakfield 4 years ago

Wonderful list but what spoilt the good soup was the inclusion of ighalo. I thought simmy nwankwo should be been called up in ighalos place. I really don’t understand what this man has seen in ighalo. I believe simmy is a more potent striker than ighalo. Strikers need some atom of luck in scoring goals, igahlo has lost it completely while simmy has got it. How can a striker be scoring goals through penalties after a very long time. Rohr, pls, do the needful, brush sentiments aside and stop inviting ighalo. Biko.

    • Chairmanfemi 4 years ago

Ighalo’s inclusion is a NO problem for me. Do you follow Simmy at all? 1 goal so far for Crotone and since the season began, he has only started a match with the team. The remaining appearances are substitute appearances. Keep Ighalo’s world cup disappointment aside and as assume you are a coach(that work with stats), one would definitely pick Ighalo now. You guys should leave this guy abeg and let him prove us wrong.

  • Supatemmy 4 years ago

But wait what’s Rohr own with Akpeyi the morata of goalkeeper… can’t he invite someone else to fight for the 3rd shirt… am not okay with akpeyi at all.

    • Akpeyi is one of the best goalkeepers in South Africa league. He is the one who has played more games than Uzoho and ezenwa combined. Akpeyi is very good and one of the best shot stoppers.

  • Omo9ja 4 years ago

One of my colleagues here have been calling Sebastian Ogenna Osigwe name for a while but I’m fortunate to watched his videos on Instagram today.

Who says we don’t have world goalkeepers after Ikeme? Coach Rohr knew this guy and he took Uzoho to Russia? Now I understand.

No wonder South Africa gave us 2-0 at home and the coach said he played his young team.

We have talented goalkeepers and players out there and this coach refused to invited them to camp? What is happening my people?

He took this coach 100 years for him to turned to Onyekuru. How long is it going to take him to give Osemeh a chance to prove his worth and why is he inviting incompetent players to camp?

I’m tired of mentioning names that is why I did not pointed fingers this time around.

But with the video of the goalkeeper I just watched, only God can help Nigeria to qualified for next year Afcon because I don’t believed in coach Rohr’s ability and philosophy to delivered because he has failed us big time and he is still making the same mistakes and he never learned.

I won’t be surprised if Ighalo plays 90 minutes of the game comes on the 10th of this month and Success will be watching the match on the bench including Onyekuru.

While the likes of Theophilus Afelokhai,
In-form Nigerian-Brazilian striker Dominic Uzoukwu, Eze, Enyimba fast rising left full back Ikouwem Udoh is no doubt is the best left full back position we have right now but this coach will never give these players a chance.

Idowu is not the best option for left back position likewise Aina. Udoh is way way ahead of them all. Meanwhile, I do not know these players anywhere.

However, some of these players and goalies have no spot in Eagles team but they have godfathers.

Coach Rohr is afraid of losing his job if he tries to remove some of the players, that was why we keep seeing average players these days.

My people, that means Oga Rohr is not capable to leads Nigeria to the promised land.

The list is looking good but how can he make it work is a big question? I remembered my proverb, you can’t give what you don’t have and in the same vein, you don’t have time to check time. Countdown to Libya’s match, 8 days to go. Good luck to Eagles. God bless Nigeria!!!

    • Greenturf 4 years ago

@ Omo9ja Osimhen needs time to develop. He has not done nothing yet to justify his inclusion in the team.
The goalkeeper you on about Osigwe from Switzerland,I beg your pardon a div.3 player in the Swiss league you kidding me dude??who does that?psml.
Rohr is doing a fantastic job does not mean he has to win every game to justify that.He is a honest and experienced coach.Apparently the players he picked against Libya are the best we have in the country.Ikouwen Udoh is a good player but has to develop well in the youth ranks to prove his mettle.
Rohr will qualify for the nation cup has no doubt because he is honest and that honesty is what we didn’t have for many years. Today our players are in top leagues after the world cup in Russia because there’s transparency in the super eagles.
In summary Rohr has picked the best professionals in the country and we should support him to deliver the goods.
      God bless Nigeria!

      • Greenturf, Was Uzoho not playing in Division 3 when Gernot Rohr took him to the world cup? The biggest stage of all? Who does that, mate?
Rohr is doing a fantastic job! Speak for yourself, mate. Clearly not everyone shares your opinion.
Honest and transparent coach!!!! I am not saying he is not honest and transparent either as I would have nothing to back up that statement.
Ikouwem Udoh needs to develop through the youth ranks and you are telling me the same should not have applied to Uzoho????
I have never known a time when Super Eagles players haven’t played in top leagues..
Before Rohr, Nigeria had players in English, French, German, Spanish, Belgian and Portuguese leagues.
Linking the unfortunate entry of Rohr into Super Eagles with the players playing in European top leagues boarders on fantasy reasoning.
He may have picked a strong overall squad, whether he would pick the best 11, play them in their best position and use the best formation remains to be seen.
You may like Rohr but you have to understand, mate, that not every one does. Nonetheless, we still want him to succeed because he is what the NFF has lumbered us with and we still love our fatherland.
Your points are filled with holes punctuated by your sentimental stance towards the coach.
He may have put a veil over your eyes, many of us still think clearly regardless.

        • osigwe plays in the swiss 2nd division and has amassed more minutes than 2 of our national team goalkeepers combined..afehlokai is number 1 at enyimba.ezenwa is number 3…stephen eze and chima akas are regulars at their clubs this season and uche agbo has had loads of minutes this season..Omeruo’s only game since the world cup which held in June was the nations cup qualifier against Seychelles while Shehu Abdullahi hasnt kicked a ball this season

  • @Chairmanfemi no, this is a wrong sentence. put ighalo worldcup disapointment aside. before the worldcup i said it dat diz 4 goal in 22 appearance is not wat we need some pple support me. but it is de worldcup everyone saw wat i meant. desame nigeria haters said ighalo is now in good form let put the worldcup disapointment aside and bring in ighalo but we de nigeria lovers go against it, but the devil ones won and bring in ighalo to seychelles match and ighalo start from where he stop and goof away our 5 one on one chances away. pls let tel always love thes our country.

  • Ayphillydegreat 4 years ago

In the absence of Mikel Iwobi should assume the playmaker role as the number 10 playing in front of Ndidi and Etebo. Back four Aina, Ekong, Balogun, Collins. Front three Musa, Iheanacho, Success/Kalu. It’s a very good squad selection a with the likes of Onyekuru and Simon/Ighalo as options from the bench.

  • Ethan 4 years ago

If Nigeria don’t cap this Danjuma guy from club brugge then it will be regrettable. Just watch the goal he scored now vs atletico madrid
