Ahly’s Nigerian striker Peter Ebimobowei sustained a hamstring muscle strain
in the Egyptian Premier League game against Ragaa on Tuesday.
“The player will undergo medical examinations and rehabilitation in attempt to make him ready as soon as possible amid a heavy schedule,” the club’s doctor, Khaled Mahmoud, told the official club website.
After a 2-0 away win, the record holders of eight African Champions League trophies will host Rwanda APR in the second leg of the round of 16 on Saturday.
“I am disappointed for the injury. My happiness with the goal I scored against Ragaa has been spoiled by the injury,” Ebimobowei said.
The 21-year-old forward who picked the same injury early February, joined the Cairo giants from Nigeria’s Bayelsa United in the January transfer period.
The Egyptian League title-holders are currently third in the table with 39 points from 20 games, nine fewer than leaders Zamalek who played one game more.
The striker who scored 18 goals before his sojourn in Egypt is also doubtful for Ismaily game scheduled for 7 April.
