–Super Eagles defender says their support is the team’s strength
Nigeria international and Monaco FC of France fullback Elderson Echiejile has spoken of his delight at upsetting Arsenal in the first leg match of the 2014/2015 Champions League round of 16 on Wednesday night.
The Gunners have a mountain to climb in the second leg on March 17 as they will be seeking to overturn a 3 – 1 deficit.
And Echiejile, who was in action for 90 minutes at The Emirates, has thanked his club’s supporters for making the trip to London.
‘’This victory is dedicated to every fan that traveled to London to support us. Good to have won away from home,’’ said Elderson Echiejile.
‘’Thanks to everyone for the support. Your support is our strength”, the Super Eagles defender said.
The Nigeria international put on a flawless display against Arsenal, with the yellow card he received just before the end of the first half being the only blemish.
Echiejile who narrowly missed out from Nigerian squad to the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil due to injury, joined Monaco from Sporting Braga on a four and a half year deal in January 2014.
