By Johnny Edward: Tributes have continued to pour from the sporting world for the former Chairman of the Lagos State Sports Commission, Mr. Deji Tinubu, who died Thursday evening, Completesportsnigeria.com (CSN) reports.
Tinubu until his death was the Special Adviser to the Governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode, on Commerce. He reportedly slumped while playing a novelty football game Thursday afternoon in the Epe area of Lagos State.
Lagos State Executive members and other top government functionaries were in Epe for a retreat. It was gathered that Tinubu slumped in the field and was confirmed dead at a hospital in Epe.
The Nigerian Football Federation’s match agent Jairo Pachon wrote via his twitter handle: “We are in shock to hear about the dead of Deji Tinubu, Our thoughts and prayers are with his family. #RIPDejiTinubu @thenff @NGSuperEagles.”
Beach Eagles and Enugu Rangers star Abu Azeez also wrote on Twitter: “I had a plan to organise “beachsoccer in secondary schools” in Ojo Local Govt,Lagos,I met you in your office,you advised me to work towards April 2018 with your full financial support,April is just 3 months,now you are Gone 💔💔💔💔💔💔💔 RIP master DEJI TINUBU.”
AC Milan winger Nnamdi Oduamadi recounted how the late Tinubu encouraged him when he earned his first invitation to the Super Eagles in 2013.
“Devastated to here Mr Deji (Tinubu) is dead,” Oduamadi told CSN.
“I still can’t forget his words to me when I made my debut for Nigeria under the late Stephen Keshi and how he encouraged me. He was an intelligent man. May his soul rest in peace.”
Sivasspor defender, Elderson Echiejile also added in a chat with CSN: ” Oh death. Rest in Peace Deji Tinubu.
Reigning African Women’s Footballer of the Year Asisat Oshoala also wrote on her Twitter handle: “RIP @dejitinubu. I can’t get your voice out of my head this morning. Thank you for what you have done for Nigerian Sports. You were “too good to lose”.
Tinubu is survived by his mother, wife and children.

Nnamdi is stil active he plays in the second division in Italy, No he is not related to the real Tinubu and he is a Christian
