Echiejile Resumes Training At Monaco

Super Eagles defender Elderson Echiejile has resumed training with his French side AS Monaco, Complete Sports can exclusively report.

The Nigerian international who tore a hamstring in the 0-0 draw with Greece in Philadelphia a fortnight ago has started ball work as he prepares for the forthcoming season.

The former SC Braga defender’s name had to be removed from the 23-man list sent to FIFA because Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi felt three weeks was too long a time to wait for the former Insurance of Benin star’s injury to heal.

Echiejile who was replaced by Ejike Uzoenyi however wished his teammates the best as they take on Iran in tonight’s Group F game.

Uzoenyi was one of the seven players originally dropped from the 30-man provisional World Cup list drawn up by Keshi and his crew.

“I wish them all the best as I continue my training,” he told Complete Sports.

Nigeria are in Group F with Iran, Bosnia and Argentina.
