Super Eagles defender, Elderson Echiejile has claimed his side, Standard Liege were unlucky not to have won away at Genk in a Belgian top league match on Sunday, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
Echiejile who is on a season loan deal at the club made his fifth start of the season – played all 90 minutes as ten man Standard Liege held Genk who paraded his compatriot Onyinye Ndidi to a 2-2 draw.
Colley shot the host into a third minute lead but strikes from Orlando Sa and Isak Belfodi after 25 minutes gave Standard Liege a 2-1 lead till Mwanta Samantha salvaged a point for Genk.
Echiejile tweeted via his Twitter handle, @Eldersonech: "Highly contested game, wanted the win but could not hold on."
Echiejile is expected to star for his Liege based outfit when they host Lokoren on Wednesday in another league fixture.
Standard Liege are currently placed eighth in the log with 29 points from 18 games.
