A review into Australian cricket in the wake of the ball-tampering scandal in South Africa claimed Cricket Australia was arrogant and partly to blame for the incident, leading to Peever stepping down.
Eddings has been in temporary charge for the past month and CA director Jacquie Hey confirmed he had now got the post on a permanent basis after a “challenging” year for the organisation.
“Our aim is to ensure management are empowered to rebuild trust and strengthen the game,” she said. “Earl’s involvement over the past decade provides continuity in a time of change and enables the board to maintain strong relations with the International Cricket Council, other member countries and our valued partners.”
