Kyle Edmund began his Shanghai Masters campaign in impressive fashion, dispatching second-round opponent Filip Krajinovic 7-5 6-3. The British number one climbed to a career-high ranking of 14th on Monday after reaching the semi-finals of last week’s China Open and was back on the winning trail on Tuesday.
Edmund found himself a break down at 4-2 in the first set against Serbia’s Krajinovic but managed to level before taking the opener.

A break of serve in the eighth game of the second set proved to be enough for the 11th seed to win the match, needing one hour 31 minutes to book his place in the next round, where he will come up against Italian Andreas Seppi.
Seppi enjoyed similarly trouble-free progress as he got the better of Adrian Mannarino 6-4 6-4 earlier in the day.
Edmund downed Seppi when they pair met in the last-16 at the Australian Open at the start of the year, but the 34-year-old extracted a measure of revenge when defeating the Brit at the Monte Carlo Masters in May.Copyright © 2022 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
