Eguavoen: IK Uche’s Return Good For Eagles

Former Super Eagles handler, Austin Eguavoen believes that the recall of Villarreal FC of Spain striker Ik Uche will make the senior national team attack stronger ahead of the 2015 African Cup of Nations qualifiers against Congo and South Africa as Nigeria need the two matches to brighten her chances of securing a place in the 2015 AFCON in Morocco.

Speaking after Coach Stephen Keshi unveiled his squad for the two crucial African Cup of Nations qualifiers at the weekend, Eguavoen said nothing can stop the team from making it to Morocco next year.

“Things look a bit difficult now but I believe these boys can still do something to make sure that Nigeria qualify for the Nations Cup next year in Morocco. Glad to see Ik Uche back in the team and I think we should have a change of mentality towards the team and believe that they will be in Morocco. The attack will now be stronger and the players will have more opportunity to score more goals”, says the soccer tactician

“I must salute Mr President for his wisdom to resolve the issue of Keshi and I am sure that everyone involved would have learned one or two things and ready to work as a family. Football is a team sport and we must all be working as a team so that together, we can achieve result.

Meanwhile, the Super Eagles have resumed camping with home based players ahead of the international friendly match with Ghana and Eguavoen believes that the match will be a great opportunity for the home boys to showcase their talents against the Ghanaians.

The match will be played at the newly built Uyo Stadium this weekend.
