–Ex-international want quick decision on Eagles coach
Former Super Eagles handler, Austin Eguavoen believes the proposed international friendly match between Nigeria and Bafana Bafana of South Africa will help the players to keep in shape ahead of 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers and other engagements.
The Nigeria Football Federation last week informed that the South Africans have accepted to play the Super Eagles on March 29 in far away Nelspruit, in South Africa.
Speaking on the proposed match, Eguavoen said it will go a long way in helping the players to remain together and be in shape.
“Personally, I think it is a good idea and I am sure it will help the players to keep in shape,” says the coach.
Eguavoen also believes that there is a need for the issue of who coaches the Super Eagles to be settled on time so that concentration can be on how to prepare the team properly for future assignment.
It would be recalled that since the Super Eagles failed to feature at the 2015 African Cup of Nations, the Nigeria Football Federation has promised to ensure the team play some friendly matches before the commencement of qualifiers for the next African Cup of Nations and the World Cup.
The last time both South Africa’s Bafana Bafana and the Super Eagles clashed at the 2015 African Nations Cup qualifier in Abuja, the match ended 2-2 therefore denying Nigeria from playing at the African showpiece.
