The Pharoahs of Egypt got their AFCON 2017 qualifying campaign off to the best possible start after they defeated Tanzania 3-0 at home.
Second half goals from Rami Rabia (61mins), Basem Morsi (65mins) and Mohammed Salah (70 mins) secured all the three points for the seven-time African champions.
The win now sees Egypt top Group G ahead of the Super Eagles who saw off Chad 2-0 on Saturday in Kaduna.
They will now take on Chad away in their next group game which comes up in September, while Tanzania will play host to the Super Eagles.
Despite their rich history in the Africa Cup of Nations, Egypt have failed to qualify for the last three editions (Equatorial Guinea/Gabon 2012, South Africa 2013 and Equatorial Guinea 2015).
The last time Egypt made an appearance at the African Cup of Nations in Angola 2010, they were crowned champions.
